
Martin Randell, DVM, DACVIM

Dr. Randell grew up in Queens and Long Island, NY. He received a BS in Biology from Cornell University in 1972 and an MA in neurobiology and animal behavior from UCLA in 1973. He achieved his DVM degree from the University of Missouri in 1979. Dr. Randell pursued an internship in small animal medicine and surgery followed by a residency in internal medicine and neurology at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. At the AMC he was also responsible for the care of exotic pets. After leaving the Animal Medical Center he was the staff internist at County Animal Clinic in Yonkers, NY. In 1984 he joined Somers Animal Hospital, soon becoming a partner. Dr. Randell achieved Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1985. As well as specializing in internal medicine, he has expertise in gastrointestinal endoscopy and ultrasonography. He lives with his wife Kathy and has 3 grown children. He shares his home with his animal companions of 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a small parrot. He enjoys adventure travel, hiking, skiing, and photography.

Dr. Hallquest shares her home with her husband and their two dogs, Kane and Cheza.

Shireen Blum, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Shireen Blum received her veterinary degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, after having completed her clinical year at North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. She then received additional training during a one-year internship at Oradell Animal Hospital in New Jersey.
Dr. Blum is an enthusiastic and passionate advocate for her patients. Her experience in surgery and integrative pain management has led her to deepen her professional knowledge base through eastern and alternative medicine. She is currently training to become certified in veterinary acupuncture. Her approach to veterinary medicine is to focus on the whole patient and the human-animal bond, to achieve both a quick recovery as well as long-lasting health.
Dr. Blum and her husband care for their two young sons, rescue dogs Pete and Lulu, and rescue cats Stewart and Wynona.

Lucy Weizenecker
Hospital Manager
Lucy has been employed with SAH since 1987. She shares her home with her husband Bill and her Boston Terrier, Hoss. Her feathered friends are a Quaker Parrot and a Parakeet.
She enjoys boating and watching Film Noir Movies.

Ingrid Jacobsen
Veterinary Assistant
Before starting at SAH, Ingrid was a zookeeper at the Bronx Zoo for ten years, mainly working with birds. In 1999, she left the zoo to work for SAH and has worked here ever since. Well, except for the years 2007 – 2012, when she went to open her own bakery in the Adirondacks.
Ingrid shares her home with her cat, Mr. Nibbles, and her dog, Bingley.

Heather Jacyszyn

Heather has been with SAH since 2007. She shares her home with her animal companions Stewie, Annie, Stella, Simon, Mo and her beloved fish.

Christina Pasqualone
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Christina has been with SAH since 2011. She graduated with a BS in Biomedical Sciences from Marist College in 2010, with a focus in pre-veterinary studies.
A native of Westchester County, NY, she has shared her home with all manner of animals; from pocket pets, to lizards, to dogs and presently a British Shorthair cat named Ciocco.
Always striving to grow, Christina can regularly be found diving into new learning opportunities and medical procedures or lending a hand in fine-tuning hospital protocols.

Marlo
Client Care Specialist
Marlo began her career working in shelters in NYC and as a docent for the Wildlife Conservation Society. Eventually, she became a permanent staff member within the Education Department of the Prospect Park Zoo in Brooklyn, NY and then a veterinary assistant with the zoo’s hospital. She worked for an emergency care veterinary practice before joining the Somers Animal Hospital staff in 2018.
Marlo shares her home with her family and two rescue Lion Head Rabbits, named Charlie and Octavia.

Wendy
Client Care Specialist
Wendy joined the staff at SAH in June 2018, after working at a Veterinary Hospital in Connecticut for 17 years in both client service and patient care.
Animals are her passion.
She has extensive experience in animal husbandry and grooming, as well as exhibiting winning Yorkshire Terriers and Maltese for 35 years. Currently, she is involved in breeding and exhibiting Devon Rex and American Shorthair Cats.
Her spare time is usually spent with her grandkids, traveling, grooming and exhibiting at cat shows.
